Jordyn Sarmoen

2025 Dance Scholarship Recipient

Jordyn, a dedicated dancer from Boca Raton, FL, has developed a deep passion for concert-contemporary dance, drawn to its demand for authenticity and artistic exploration. She finds joy in the curiosity it sparks and has pursued this passion through programs with Ballet BC 44 and Ballets Jazz Montreal, where she immersed herself in improvisation, repertory, and movement classes. These experiences, along with her own choreography work, have shaped her approach to dance and inspired her to seek new ways to grow as an artist.

Over the past year, Jordyn has toured nationally with New York City Dance Alliance and Revel Dance Convention, gaining invaluable experience as a senior assistant and connecting with renowned industry professionals, including Desmond Richardson. These opportunities have allowed her to embody the idea that "full out is specificity" across different genres and settings. Her two-year mentorship with Madison Hicks has further enriched her artistry, leading her to be named a YoungArts Winner in Modern/Contemporary Dance for both 2024 and 2025.

This summer, with support from the Anthony Quinn Foundation, Jordyn will attend the Arts Umbrella International Summer Dance Intensive in Canada. She looks forward to refining her craft, exploring new ideas, and evaluating Arts Umbrella’s post-secondary program as she pursues her dream of joining a professional contemporary dance company.
