Tyler Price Realizes His Dream at Juilliard
For Tyler, senior year was defined by artistic growth, memorable performances, and the realization of a lifelong dream. As he prepared applications to leading drama schools in the United States and England, Tyler balanced prescreen submissions, auditions, and an ambitious performance schedule. Looking back, he shared, “This year was a big year for me… my senior year in high school...and I have some pretty exciting news about where I will be headed in the Fall!”
Throughout the year, Tyler appeared in his school's productions of In Emily's Words as Heathcliff and Airness as D. Vicious, while also preparing for the District Thespian Competition. There, he earned Top Honors in Solo Musical, Solo Acting, and Duet Acting, with his duet selected for the festival's closing ceremony. His success continued at the national level when two of his performances were submitted to the International Thespian Excellence Awards (Thespy Awards), where he received a Superior rating for his duet scene and a Perfect Score for his solo musical performance.
The months that followed were filled with auditions, including trips to New York and Atlanta, where Tyler received offers from several distinguished drama programs, including one in London. Yet one school stood above all the rest. “My dream has always been to study at Juilliard!” After advancing through the highly competitive callback process, Tyler received the news he had been hoping for: “I received the call with the offer to be a part of Group 59 to pursue my BFA in Acting at Juilliard!!!! I am so excited!!!!”
Before graduating, Tyler took on some of his most demanding and rewarding roles to date. He portrayed Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde in Jekyll & Hyde, a performance that earned him a Best Lead Performer Award. Reflecting on the experience, he noted that the role “taught me so much about vocal health, and having discipline enough to know when you need to step back, give your vocal cords a rest, give your body time to rejuvenate.” He also embraced the opportunity to play Kate in an all-male production of The Taming of the Shrew, a role that broadened his perspective on Shakespeare, gender, and performance.
Tyler concluded the school year by returning to the Applause Awards, where he was named First Runner-Up and selected as the Jimmy Awards Alternate, following a Top 4 finish the previous year. This summer, he performed Macduff in the Orlando Shakes Young Company production of Macbeth before preparing for his move to New York City and the start of his studies at Juilliard.
Reflecting on his journey, Tyler expressed his gratitude to the Foundation: “The Anthony Quinn Foundation has been a part of my artistic journey since I was a freshman in high school and I can’t thank you enough!”
We congratulate Tyler on this extraordinary milestone and look forward to following his journey as he begins this exciting new chapter at Juilliard and continues to grow as an artist.
