Axel Sobel Joins Colorado Ballet Academy as a Trainee

Following his selection as an Anthony Quinn Foundation Dance Scholarship recipient in 2025, Axel Sobel has already reached an exciting milestone in his young career. This fall, he will join the Colorado Ballet Academy as a trainee on a 100% scholarship, taking the next step toward a professional career in ballet.

Earlier this year, Axel was a finalist at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Finals in Houston, competing in both the Men's Classical and Contemporary dance divisions. Reflecting on the experience, he shared, "Still in shock that I actually made it to YAGP Finals in Houston this year. I remember studying the masterclass videos when I first got serious... and now look at me—actually in the masterclasses!" He also expressed his gratitude to the teachers, mentors, and friends who have supported his journey, adding, "I can't wait to continue dancing, and I will continue to carry all of the knowledge you've provided me with."

After spending time at the Colorado Ballet Academy, attending classes and observing rehearsals for Sleeping Beauty, Axel knew he had found the right place to continue his training. "The fun classes and excitement of the production persuaded me in making my decision for next season," he shared. He also thanked Erica Fischbach and Gil Boggs for recognizing him at YAGP and offering him the opportunity, writing, "I cannot wait to make the most of it as well as learn what it means to be in a company environment."

As he prepares to begin this exciting new chapter in Colorado, Axel continues to demonstrate the talent, dedication, and passion that have distinguished him throughout his training. We congratulate Axel on these outstanding achievements and look forward to watching his artistic journey continue as he begins training with Colorado Ballet Academy and moves one step closer to a professional career in dance.
