Sophia Drapeau Pursues New Roles as Performer and Educator
Since receiving the AQF Theater Scholarship in 2016, Sophia Drapeau has cultivated a vibrant and multifaceted career in the performing arts. She trained in acting at New York University, studying at the renowned Stella Adler Studio of Acting and Stonestreet Studios, and graduated in 2021 with a BFA in Drama and a minor in Creative Writing.
Following her graduation, Sophia performed in a variety of theatrical settings, including New York City festivals, regional theaters, and educational tours across schools in NYC and Connecticut. She has also appeared in several short films (IMDb credits: Dry Run: Otherwise Known As the Slutty Misadventures of Type-A, Twenty Something, Child of Divorce), and earned membership in the Actors’ Equity Association, marking a significant milestone in her professional journey.
Sophia has recently expanded her creative pursuits into comedy, training at The Second City in New York. She performs regularly at the venue and with her improv team, Little Darlings, appearing at comedy spots throughout the city.
Alongside her artistic work, Sophia dedicates herself to education. Since last year, she has been teaching English and Drama to middle school students at St. Joan of Arc School in Queens, New York, where she also directs the annual school plays. She describes sharing the joy of theatre with younger generations as one of her most rewarding experiences.
