Moscelyne ParkeHarrison Debuts Immersive Choreography

Since 2023, while serving as Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer at Post:ballet (2022–25), Moscelyne conceived and choreographed Magma, an evening-length immersive dance theatre performance presented at San Francisco’s renowned nightclub, The Midway, as the venue’s first ever company in residence.

Magma, lauded as “hot and dangerous” (SF Classical Voice), “wildly ambitious” (SF Chronicle), and a “modern-day masterpiece” (SF Arts), premiered in January 2025 at The Midway, a multi-room nightclub in San Francisco. The evening-length work featured nine dancers of Post:ballet, live music by DJ ari.b, choreography and text by Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, and projections by Shana ParkeHarrison. Blurring the lines between installation, immersive dance theatre, and proscenium-style performance, the piece was inspired by the myth of Cassandra. It peeled back the layers of truth to reveal a gripping social commentary on humanity’s desire to understand and control the world around us.

Alongside her Post:ballet work, Moscelyne continues to co-direct the innovative, site-responsive collective BODYSONNET, founded in 2019. With BODYSONNET she has advanced her commitment to collaborative, sustainable art-making, centering community-based work and zero-waste consciousness.

This fall, Moscelyne will relocate to New York City, deepening her leadership with BODYSONNET and preparing to bring Magma to East Coast audiences. Visit Moscelyne’s website to learn more about her work.

We applaud Moscelyne on her visionary artistry and ongoing impact—in both coastal communities and beyond—and we look forward with great excitement to her next creative chapters.
