Kannen Glanz Expands Artistic Horizons with SALT Contemporary Dance

Since 2023, Kannen has joined SALT Contemporary Dance under the artistic direction of Amy Gunter-Lolofie in Salt Lake City, Utah. Transitioning from his earlier ballet company work, he is now focusing on contemporary creations and collaborative processes. He is currently entering his second season with the company, performing both in Salt Lake City and on tour across the United States and abroad.

During his time with SALT, Kannen has premiered new works by choreographers including Brandon Alley and Rachael Prince (Dance Novella), Ching Ching Wong, Rena Butler, and Amy Gunter-Lolofie. These collaborations have deepened his exploration of contemporary movement while offering audiences bold, innovative productions.

Alongside performing, Kannen has also embraced teaching more rigorously, joining the faculty at Ballet West Academy and Wasatch Ballet as a part-time instructor. He has also taught as a guest artist at Utah Valley University and the Utah Dance Festival, further developing his skills as an educator and mentor to young dancers.

Looking ahead, Kannen is preparing to participate in a new creation later this year that will include his third opportunity to perform internationally. While details remain under wraps, he is eager to share this project with audiences soon.

Beyond the studio and stage, Kannen has expanded his professional work into the field of group fitness coaching, applying his kinesthetic awareness to lead formats including circuit training and Les Mills BODYPUMP. This crossover into fitness has opened new avenues for sharing movement and wellness with diverse communities.

We celebrate Kannen’s continued artistic achievements and look forward to his upcoming performances and international projects.
