Luke Groves at the Tanglewood French Horn Workshop

For Luke Groves, the Tanglewood French Horn Workshop offered far more than intensive musical training—it introduced him to a community where his passion for the French horn was shared, understood, and celebrated. Surrounded by talented high school musicians from across the country, he found inspiration in both the classroom and the friendships he formed.

During the two-week summer music program, Luke worked closely with two distinguished instructors who provided exceptional one-on-one coaching and small-group instruction. The focused environment allowed him to devote his full attention to developing his artistry, something that is often difficult while balancing school, rehearsals, and everyday responsibilities.

Beyond the lessons themselves, Luke was deeply inspired by his fellow musicians. Watching their unique approaches to performance challenged him to think differently about his own playing and left him with ideas and friendships that will continue to shape his artistic growth.

"This was such a luxury of time and self-improvement, and I think my takeaway will continue to feel like this special summer moment when I got to share what I'm passionate about with a group of equally passionate humans. This was a springboard experience for me, and I can't wait to see how I continue to change and grow!"

Supported by an Anthony Quinn Foundation Music Scholarship, Luke returns home with renewed confidence, lifelong connections, and a stronger foundation for the next stage of his musical journey.
