Kannen Glanz Expands His Practice Through Performance and Choreography
Kannen Glanz is entering his third season with SALT Contemporary Dance under the direction of Amy Gunter, where he continues to perform while also entering his second year as the company’s Marketing Associate, specializing in social media and content creation. Working in both artistic and administrative capacities has allowed Kannen to explore different facets of his creative practice. During his second season, he performed in Salt Lake City and on tour in new creations and SALT repertoire by choreographers including Ching Ching Wong, Lauren Edson of LED Boise, Noelle Kayser, and Amy Gunter.
In November 2025, Kannen expanded his international performance experience when he joined Company Wayne McGregor as a guest artist for Coro, a new work commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia in Venice, Italy. He traveled to London to rehearse at Wayne McGregor’s studios before joining the company in Venice for the performances.
Kannen also spent the summer embracing freelance opportunities across the country. He began with the WOODWORKS Artist Residency in Traverse City, Michigan, produced by FALCO under the direction of Madison Falconer. As both a dancer and choreographer, he created a new work for the residency’s summer concert, Out of the Woodworks, while also performing in works by fellow artists.
Following the residency, Kannen was selected as one of six professional dancers for Laguna Dance’s inaugural Summer Stage, directed by Jodie Gates. He performed in Voices Unbound, an evening of new works choreographed by Gates and internationally recognized choreographer Peter Chu. The project held particular significance for Kannen, as Gates had given him his first professional job after college with Cincinnati Ballet. Returning years later to premiere a new work with Gates became, in Kannen’s words, “a great full circle moment.”
Through his work with SALT, international performance opportunities, choreography, and arts administration, Kannen continues to build a multifaceted career that reflects the breadth of his creative interests.
We congratulate Kannen on his continued artistic growth and exciting new opportunities, and we look forward to seeing how his work as a performer, choreographer, and creative professional continues to evolve.
