Talan Tee

2026 Literary Arts Scholarship Recipient

Talan Tee is a 16-year-old writer from Taipei, Taiwan, whose work explores identity, history, and memory through poetry. His writing has been shaped by experiences navigating multiple cultural contexts, using language as a way to understand both personal and collective narratives.

He approaches poetry as both an artistic and investigative practice, often examining how larger historical forces shape individual lives. His work reflects a commitment to capturing complexity and honoring the emotional depth of lived experience, particularly in relation to migration and cultural identity.

Talan plans to continue developing his voice as a poet while pursuing long-term literary projects. The AQF scholarship will support his growth as he attends the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, where he will engage in intensive workshops, receive critical feedback, and refine his work within a rigorous literary environment.
