Savannah Weldon

2025 Singing Scholarship Recipient

Savannah, a dedicated vocalist from New York City, has been immersed in the arts since early childhood. With music constantly in her home, she began piano lessons at five and danced ballet throughout elementary school. Her love for singing grew naturally—honed by harmonizing with her father and performing in choirs. During the pandemic, she explored musical theater more deeply, even directing and composing for a virtual musical project she created with peers online.

Her artistic development accelerated when she was accepted into LaGuardia High School as a vocal major. Influential mentors like Ms. Ballard and Dr. Johns pushed her to exceed her limits, instilling discipline and a deeper understanding of vocal technique and musicianship. A recent milestone was landing the lead role of Cinderella in *Into the Woods*, which pushed her outside her comfort zone and allowed her to work with experienced professionals from the Broadway community, significantly expanding her artistic range.

With the support of the Anthony Quinn Foundation, Savannah will attend the Schmidt Vocal Institute this summer. She sees this opportunity as a vital step in her pursuit of a professional operatic career and a future in teaching. Her passion for community, education, and vocal excellence continues to guide her musical journey.
