Maggie's passion lies in creating storytelling illustrations that evoke wonder and leave a lasting impact on viewers. From her childhood joy of scribbling characters and stories with Crayola pencils, she has evolved her artistic process to encompass various mediums such as gouache, acrylic, and digital programs. The versatility of digital art, particularly using programs like Photoshop, allows her to explore endless creative possibilities.
Introduced to the professional art world by her uncle, Maggie discovered the importance of concepts like tone, value, and perspective. Witnessing the diverse range of artistic interpretations and techniques among her peers at Orange County School of the Arts has expanded her perspective on art. Recognizing the influence of her Chinese American background on her work, she has realized the need to broaden her horizons and seek inspiration from diverse experiences and backgrounds.
Enrolling in the California State Summer School for the Arts: Visual Arts program will be a significant step in Maggie's artistic development. By immersing herself in a community of diverse ideas and people, she aims to create unique and relatable pieces that induce a sense of wonder in her audience. Maggie is ecstatic and grateful to the Anthony Quinn Foundation for the scholarship that will allow her to be better equipped to expand her artistic repertoire through exposure to new perspectives and continue to captivate viewers with her storytelling illustrations.
