Erica finds great joy in playing the cello and witnessing the positive reactions of her listeners. The sight of their joyful expressions and twinkling eyes focused on her and her instrument fills her with a blissful feeling, reaffirming that her efforts have been worthwhile. Unlike other musicians who may have been pushed to practice by their parents, Erica has always enjoyed playing the cello and never once felt any hint of dislike towards her instrument. Her curiosity for the deep and mellow sounds of the cello was piqued by a friend in elementary school, and when her family moved to Florida, she eagerly seized the opportunity to begin learning the instrument.
From her very first performance in front of an audience, Erica knew that she had found her calling. She felt a deep connection with the music, as if it beckoned her and embraced her, while simultaneously sharing in the audience's happiness. Since then, her dream has been to become a professional cellist, sharing her music with people all around the world and drawing happiness from their joy. Her aspiration is that, ten years from now, she will be able to bring happiness and joy to people through her performances.
Although Erica recognizes that receiving a scholarship is not an easy feat, she believes that she has made significant progress in her four years of playing the cello, both in entertaining others and in finding personal fulfillment. With the guidance of Professor Harbaugh, Erica is confident that she can continue to advance in her musical journey and excel as a cellist, despite starting a little later than some others. She remains determined to pursue a life dedicated to the cello and is grateful for the opportunity to continue honing her skills.
