Tyler Price Steps Into the Spotlight with Award-Winning Performances
In his junior year, Tyler Price focused intensely on training and performing in theatre productions as a student at the Montverde Theatre Conservatory. He began the year with the title role in a one-act adaptation of Hamlet, which was later performed at the District Thespian Competition. There, he received the award for “Outstanding Lead Performance in a Male Role.” During the same festival, Tyler earned “Top Honors” in the solo acting showcase and was selected to perform at the closing ceremony.
Later in the season, Tyler took on the role of Buddy in Elf the Musical. His performance earned him a second Lead Performer Applause Award, allowing him to compete in the regional Applause Awards. As a result, he became a top 4 male finalist for Jimmy Award contention and received a scholarship from the organization.
Outside of school, Tyler remained actively involved in the William Daniel Mills Theatre Apprenticeship Program. This year’s production was a devised piece, continuing the work he began during a summer theatre program in Boston. He also gained professional stage experience performing in Spring Awakening, a production that ran for 12 shows over three weeks and included a cast of local professional actors.
Adding to his achievements, Tyler was named a semifinalist by the National Association of Teachers of Singing and was invited to compete at the national level in Philadelphia after excelling in a district-level singing competition.
Following a demanding school year, Tyler traveled to England with his family—his father’s home country and a place where he holds dual citizenship. They spent a week in London, immersing themselves in the local theatre scene by attending productions like Evita at the Palladium and The Merry Wives of Windsor at The Globe. During the trip, Tyler also visited several universities and conservatories, which he now plans to include on his college application list.
Now entering his senior year, Tyler is focused on preparing college applications and prescreen materials as he works toward his goal of joining a collegiate acting program.
