Sylvani Starchild-St. Clair at Columbia College
Sylvani shares her pursuit of an MFA at Columbia College, and her plans to study in Berlin at Arthaus to focus on creating her thesis work!
“I recently graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with my BFA in Contemporary Dance, and I am now back in Chicago pursuing my MFA at Columbia College in the Acting and Contemporary Performance Making program (formerly known as the European Devised Performance Practice MFA). Next year I will be studying in Berlin at Arthaus, and creating my thesis work which, at the moment I believe will be about the political power of comedy as a tool of subversion and de-escalation in a street theatre context.
Otherwise, I'm enjoying living in Chicago! I'm working on several devised theatre projects, one of which is inspired by the Riverwalk, and some experimental films with other graduate students at Columbia College. I'm very glad to be back here! The city is beautiful!”
