Moscelyne ParkeHarrison Establishes BODYSONNET’s Next Chapter in NY
In August 2025, Moscelyne ParkeHarrison returned to New York City after four years of creating in the San Francisco Bay Area, reestablishing her dance company, BODYSONNET, as a New York-based company with Associate Artistic Director Mio Ishikawa. This new chapter has opened exciting opportunities to reconnect with the city’s arts community and lay the groundwork for the company’s future.
During its seventh season, BODYSONNET hosted NEWAVE, a five-day intensive for pre-professional and newly professional dancers, and collaborated with ARESPHERE as choreographers and creative directors for Filling the Shell, an immersive techno-choreographic production. The company also shared work-in-progress previews at Center for Performance Research and Mabou Mines, with plans to continue developing Filling the Shell in 2027.
In May 2026, BODYSONNET presented its first show as a New York-based company at Judson Church. Titled New York Now, the program featured three works by Moscelyne and Mio, performed by contemporary dancers from across the city. Moscelyne also closed the season with a performance of her piece say i am you at the 45th annual Battery Dance Festival. She and Mio are now planning the company’s eighth season.
Moscelyne recently shared her perspective on life after graduation in the Summer/Fall 2026 edition of the Juilliard Journal, reflecting on the journey beyond her own time at The Juilliard School.
This fall, she was also invited to Boston Conservatory as a guest artist, where she choreographed a world premiere for the school’s junior contemporary dance majors. Titled To be running breathlessly but not yet arrived, the work features 14 dancers and an original score by Tushrik Fredericks. Blending contemporary, commercial, and dance-theater styles, the piece explores the concept of “retrocausality”—an idea Moscelyne hopes to investigate further as she develops the work.
We congratulate Moscelyne on this exciting period of artistic growth and look forward to following the continued evolution of BODYSONNET and her choreographic work.
