Luisa Quintão Frade Builds Her Future in Animation at Eastern Michigan University
Thanks to the Anthony Quinn Foundation Scholarship and her experience in Pratt Institute’s PreCollege Program, Luisa Quintão Frade significantly developed her skills in 3D modeling and animation. She put that knowledge into practice through MundiMãos (WorldHands), an educational app in development that teaches Brazilian Sign Language to children. As Art Director for the project’s small team, Luisa developed its 3D mascot and animated the lessons, gaining valuable experience applying her artistic skills to an educational initiative.
Her month at Pratt also helped Luisa recognize that she wanted to pursue higher education in the United States. Late last year, she submitted approximately 20 college applications for animation programs and received 16 acceptances, including full-ride scholarship offers from Central Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University.
After researching her options, Luisa chose Eastern Michigan University, where she is now studying animation. She describes the experience so far as fantastic, highlighting the strength of the animation program and the support available to students.
Reflecting on her journey, Luisa credits the Anthony Quinn Foundation with helping make these opportunities possible. She shared her gratitude for the Foundation’s continued support, saying it showed her that “dreams do come true.”
We congratulate Luisa on this exciting new chapter and look forward to seeing how she continues to grow as an animator and creative storyteller.
