Lindsey Sharpe, Accomplished Cellist, Educator, and Arts Administrator
Lindsey Sharpe, a cellist based in Chicago, is a versatile performer, dedicated teacher, and experienced arts administrator. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Lindsey began playing the cello at age 7 and later added piano to her repertoire. In 2007, she joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Talent Development Program, studying with Martha Gerschefski until her high school graduation in 2015. She continued her musical education, earning degrees from the University of Michigan and Rice University's Shepherd School, where she studied with renowned cellists Anthony Elliott and Norman Fischer.
An active orchestral musician, Lindsey recently completed a three-year term with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, where she served two years as a fellow. She currently holds positions with the Sphinx Virtuosi and Chicago Sinfonietta and has performed with prominent ensembles such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Gateways Music Festival, Chineke! Orchestra, and many others. Lindsey's versatility has led her to collaborate with popular artists like Lauryn Hill, Chance the Rapper, and Smokey Robinson. One of her most recent highlights was performing a solo recital for the Dame Myra Hess Series, broadcast live on WFMT.
In addition to her performance career, Lindsey is passionate about education. She serves as a faculty member at the Merit School of Music and coaches for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. As an arts administrator, she has worked with several renowned organizations and is currently with 8VA Music Consultancy, a PR firm representing some of the world’s most distinguished classical artists.
Lindsey plays a cello crafted in 1994 by Gary Garavaglia in the workshop of William Harris Lee, and her commitment to both performance and teaching continues to make an impact on the classical music community.
