Gwynevere Buie at Kansas City Art Institute

Gwynevere (AQF '24) reflects on her experience at KCAI's Pre-College Art Lab and how it profoundly shaped her artistic path.

"My time spent at KCAI was incredibly beneficial as it allowed me to explore and learn in ways I hadn't formerly been able to–as well as to meet and make connections with peers who shared similar interests, skills, and artistic dreams!

I participated in my first life drawing class, made and learned about the artistry of paper puppets and indigo dye, crafted a giant tape mural, tried (and found I very much enjoy...I am now looking at pursuing printing classes at my university) screen printing for the first time, and found myself walking away with more direction, knowledge, and excitement about my artistic future than I have ever previously experienced!

Without the support of friends, family, and especially the Anthony Quinn Foundation, my participation wouldn't have been possible; and I could not be more grateful or so incredibly thankful for everyone who has chosen to be a part of my journey."
