Kate Fitzgerald Cast in Huntington Theatre’s The Hills of California
Kate (AQF ‘18) takes the stage as Young Joan in the U.S. premiere of Jez Butterworth’s The Hills of California at Boston’s Huntington Theatre.
Kate Fitzgerald is currently performing in Jez Butterworth’s latest play, The Hills of California, at Boston’s Huntington Theatre. Directed by Loretta Greco, the production follows four sisters as they reunite in their mother’s Blackpool guesthouse, where memory, family, and the passage of time collide. Kate plays Young Joan, a role that adds to her growing body of stage work in both classical and contemporary theatre.

Kate graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2023 with a BFA in Musical Theatre, where she trained in acting and devised work. Since then, she has built a varied career on regional and musical stages. Kate’s recent credits include performances with Bay Street Theatre, Coachella Valley Repertory, The Lyric Stage, Barnstormers Theatre, The Gamm, and North Shore Music Theatre. On her website, Kate describes herself as an artist passionate about storytelling that is “honest, imaginative, and collaborative,” qualities that shine through in her performances.
With The Hills of California, Kate steps into a production that has already been hailed in London’s West End as “a masterpiece” and “a richly resonant drama” (The Guardian). Its Boston run marks the U.S. premiere of Butterworth’s new work, offering audiences a chance to see one of theatre’s most celebrated playwrights brought to life by an exceptional ensemble.
