Hana Reel at the Interlochen Summer Voice Intensive

For Hana Reel, the Interlochen Summer Voice Intensive was an opportunity to deepen her understanding of the voice while exploring new possibilities as a young singer. The intensive combined rigorous vocal training with performance opportunities, giving Hana practical tools that she can carry with her throughout her musical development.

A major focus of the program was learning how the voice works and how to use it safely and effectively. Hana studied phonation and techniques for preserving vocal health while also stepping outside her classical training to experiment with pop, rock, and musical theatre. Exploring different styles expanded her understanding of her instrument and gave her new ways to approach singing.

The program also provided Hana with meaningful opportunities to perform and learn from established artists. One of the highlights was performing in a masterclass with renowned soprano Renée Fleming, whose expertise and guidance gave Hana valuable insight into the craft of classical singing.

Beyond the technical training, Hana valued the community she found among the other young singers at Interlochen. Building relationships with talented peers who share her passion for music made the experience even more meaningful and created connections she hopes will last for years to come.

"I was so grateful to enjoy her presence and listen to the valuable advice she had for me. This knowledge will most definitely stick with me for years to come, teaching me how to use my voice in the most effective and healthy way."

Made possible through an Anthony Quinn Foundation Scholarship in Singing, Hana's summer at Interlochen strengthened her vocal technique, expanded her artistic perspective, and gave her new inspiration as she continues developing her voice as a young artist.
