Preston Schoenherr

2019 Theatre Scholarship Recipient

Preston, a passionate theatre enthusiast, discovered his love for the medium during his freshman year in a Beginning Drama class. He values theatre for its unique ability to create an intimate connection between the audience and the actors on stage, unlike any other storytelling form. Throughout his time at Aragon, Preston has actively participated in numerous theatrical opportunities, including acting in productions, being part of the improv team, and engaging in playwriting with TheatreWorks. He credits theatre for his personal growth and is eager to continue learning and exploring the vast possibilities the theatre world offers.

Preston compares his journey in theatre to climbing a mountain, finding excitement in the challenging aspects that come along the way. While he enjoys his passion, he feels that his knowledge of acting is limited to his own drama department and wishes to expand his skills further. Preston believes that the NHSI (National High School Institute) program can provide the necessary resources and instruction to reach new heights in his acting abilities. Preston eagerly anticipates the opportunity to learn different acting methods and gain a deeper understanding of the art of acting.

Yearning for exposure to a diverse range of individuals who share similar goals, Preston sees the NHSI program as a means to collaborate and grow alongside like-minded peers. He believes that the program's comprehensive training and supportive environment will equip him with the tools needed to continue his artistic development as a performer. Preston perceives his theatrical journey as a continuous climb, with no definitive peak in sight, and he looks forward to embracing the challenges and joys that come with the process.
