Jocelyn's passion for writing began at the age of eleven when she aspired to be a famous writer, driven by her limited knowledge of the craft. However, over the past five years, her love for literature has deepened, and writing has become an integral part of her life, providing genuine meaning and offering profound insights into the human condition. Writing has now become one of the most important aspects of her life, and her dream of becoming an accomplished writer remains unwavering.
The Young Writers Workshop (YWW) at the University of Virginia is renowned for nurturing young writers and helping them develop a deeper understanding of their craft. Jocelyn sees this program as an extraordinary opportunity to study under accomplished writers and immerse herself in an environment where fellow students share the same passion and dedication to literature. She believes that learning from both teachers and peers at YWW would be invaluable and hopes to gain a professional understanding of writing and publishing while refining her skills to achieve distinction.
Jocelyn's ultimate goal for the summer is to become a better writer and deepen her love for her art. She views receiving a scholarship from the Anthony Quinn Foundation as a chance to solidify her craft and flourish at YWW. She expresses deep gratitude for the opportunity, recognizing that her love for writing is the most significant aspect of her life, and attending the workshop would be an exceptional experience that she eagerly anticipates.
