Ashley, a 15-year-old violinist, shares her journey from initially viewing violin practice as a chore to developing a deep passion for music and a desire to pursue it for the rest of her life. Attending her first music festival at 13, Ashley experienced pure happiness and was moved to tears by the performances of her friends. Collaborating with talented musicians, she learned humility, patience, and found motivation to become a better musician. The supportive musical environment, filled with like-minded peers and encouraging teachers, played a crucial role in her growth.
Prior to her festival experience, Ashley found the journey to improve her artistry lonely and challenging. However, meeting fellow young musicians at the festivals brought her joy and excitement. They shared musical tips, bonded over mutual interests, and provided comfort during difficult moments. The friendships and support from her peers and teachers became instrumental in sustaining her self-motivation and perseverance.
Ashley's ultimate musical goal is to live a life immersed in music and violin, surrounded by a community of musicians with whom she can connect and communicate. Having attended multiple festivals, she has discovered new perspectives and insights about the arts. With the assistance of an Anthony Quinn grant, Ashley will attend Heifetz International Music Institute, enabling her to continue learning and gathering valuable experiences that will shape her musical journey for a lifetime.
