Tyler Price’s Success On Stage And Beyond
Tyler Price, a 2023 AQF Theatre Scholarship recipient, has made significant strides in his acting career since receiving the scholarship. Last year, Tyler continued working on short films in the Orlando/Tampa area, earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the OIF-Tampa Independent Filmmakers Awards. His busy school year included standout performances in several plays and musicals, including Sunday in the Park with George, Thanksgiving Play, and Oliver!.
Tyler's talent earned him three nominations for the Applause Awards, the regional award program that sends two winners to the Jimmy Awards in NYC. He won the Best Lead Performer award for his role as Fagin in Oliver!, an experience that involved two weeks of rehearsals with other winners and industry professionals, culminating in a grand production at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center hosted by Michael James Scott.
Following the Applause Awards, Tyler spent a week volunteering at Orlando Family Stage, helping elementary and middle school kids stage a production of Finding Nemo. This theater group holds special significance for Tyler, as it is where he began performing in elementary school, making his return as a camp counselor particularly meaningful.
He has also been inducted into his school's chapter of the National Honor Society and has served as an officer for his Thespian troupe. At the District Thespian competitions, he received five superior scores for his individual and group events. Additionally, Tyler was a member of The William Daniel Mills Apprenticeship program last year and has been offered the opportunity to continue in the upcoming year.
Currently, Tyler is attending the Boston University Summer Theatre Intensive (BUSTI), staying on campus to gain a more immersive college experience. As he enters his junior year, Tyler is beginning to seriously consider his college applications. Tyler's dedication to theater and his impressive accomplishments reflect the impact of the AQF Theatre Scholarship on his journey toward artistic excellence.
