Kang Min Shin Attends Aspen Music Festival

Dear Anthony Quinn Foundation,

With your Scholarship, I participated in the 2015 Aspen Music Festival and School in this summer. It was a very high-level guitar program, as I had expected. During the 4 weeks of my session, I received very insightful and helpful masterclasses from Sharon Isbin on my solo pieces and also great lessons on a variety of chamber music from other music teachers. It was awesome to see how much I can improve on my musicality, and I especially loved practicing with a unique and talented violin student I met at Aspen.

Using what I learned, I was accepted and performed in a duet at the Spotlight Concert with the violinist, and later I performed it again, along with a solo, a guitar quartet, and ensemble at the "Students of Sharon Isbin" recital on the last day of the guitar program.
The concert was excellent, and it was a great experience to play with other very talented students. I was especially touched when my audience members waited and did a standing ovation for me when I boarded the shuttle bus to go back to my lodging. I realized how much my music could impact people and give them joy. It also inspired me to keep on improving my music.

I am very grateful for the AQF Scholarship which allowed me to have this great opportunity.
