Exhibition of Rare Sam Shaw Photographs of Anthony Quinn

Institut Lumiere payed tribute to creative force Anthony Quinn (1915-2001) through the construction of a special exhibition space to showcase photographs of the actor on set in Crete while filming Zorba the Greek in 1964. The photographs were taken by Sam Shaw (1912-1999) who shot the biggest stars in Hollywood (Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marilyn Monroe). The stolen moments on the set show Quinn at work, posing, or between takes. In both color and black and white and often photographed closely, one discovers Quinn's face carved in moments of relaxation or concentration, where the party life mingles with the film. The exhibition of rare photographs released both the mood of the film and that of the actor and was organized by the Shaw Family Archives.
