During his time at the Heifetz International Music Institute, Wick had the opportunity to work with renowned performers and teachers. He was captivated by their ability to effectively communicate concepts and translate them into a student's playing. This experience, coupled with the support of his friends, who organized a mock masterclass for him, sparked his interest in teaching music. Wick views teaching as a continuous learning process, similar to performing, where each experience allows for self-improvement and reflection on how to better communicate concepts and positively impact students.
In ten years, Wick envisions himself in the midst of a successful performing career, whether as a member of a world-class symphony orchestra, a soloist, or a chamber musician. However, he also recognizes the unpredictability of life and the need to remain open to various opportunities. Wick embraces the advice of Robert Spano, the conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, who encourages aspiring musicians to keep their options open and seize any opportunity that comes their way. While Wick pursues his performing career, he also aspires to invest in becoming an effective teacher, acknowledging the importance of continual growth and expanding his artistic horizons.
