Siah is a passionate actress who revels in the exploration and development of characters. One standout experience for her was playing Malvolio in a production of Twelfth Night, where she discovered a fresh interpretation of the role. Contrary to the common portrayal of Malvolio as a stern individual, Siah saw him as a flamboyant goofball waiting for an opportunity to unleash his exuberance. Acting has been a part of Siah's life since a young age, with a particular fascination for Shakespearean works. SHe has independently delved into various plays, including Hamlet, Measure for Measure, and Dr. Faustus. Notably, as a freshman, she was selected to perform in Chicago Youth Shakespeare's professional production of Othello.
Siah's enthusiasm extends beyond performing to the intricacies of Shakespearean scansion and text analysis. SHe enjoys deciphering the iambic and dactylic patterns within monologues and scenes to determine their intended delivery. Although her parents may not share his level of interest, she often shares her theories with them. Recognizing the importance of continuous growth and the challenges of finding suitable classes, Siah sought out the Berridge program in Normandy for a transformative summer experience. Accepted into the program, she eagerly anticipates the intensive nature of the curriculum, which will push her to expand her boundaries and enhance her skills. The program's focus on cue scripts, mirroring original Shakespearean performances, intrigues her. Siah also looks forward to the opportunity to connect and learn from fellow young artists, fostering a network of like-minded individuals.
Inspired by the talented and dedicated artists at Chicago Youth Shakespeare, Siah understands the value of collective learning and teaching within a supportive artistic community. sHe believes that the Berridge program will not only provide him with new skills but also nurture his ability to embody passionate characters like Malvolio, albeit without the garters.
