Joe's greatest passion lies in using his music to serve audiences. He sees music as a powerful means of communication that allows him to connect directly with people's emotions. Whether through his solo performances, ensembles, or his newly formed chamber group, Joe's mission is to bring therapeutic, educational, and entertaining experiences to individuals of various ages, cultural backgrounds, and neurological and physical conditions. He is particularly interested in reaching "neuro-diverse" audiences, including those affected by conditions such as post-traumatic stress syndrome, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or autism.
One of Joe's most significant experiences was participating in a music therapy program. The profound impact it had on the participants, particularly those suffering from dementia, left a lasting impression on him. The fact that they remembered the performance a month later and requested another one emphasized the therapeutic effect of music. Joe finds great fulfillment in being able to provide such experiences to others.
Being accepted into "The Art of Sound" Menlo Summer Brass Institute holds great importance to Joe for several reasons. First, the institute's founder and artistic director, Vicky Greenbaum, was a professional violinist who understands the value of rigorous training for brass musicians. The opportunity to receive training and perform masterworks of the brass repertoire alongside talented participants from around the world is both inspiring and challenging. Joe is eager to learn from and collaborate with master performers and teachers in the brass world, striving to create a sound that captivates listeners and leaves them longing for more. The intense schedule of rehearsals, coaching, lessons, and performances, coupled with the personal attention provided by the institute, promises a transformative experience for Joe. He not only aims to enhance his performance technique but also seeks to develop stronger arts leadership skills, becoming an ambassador for the euphonium and inspiring others to pursue their artistic goals.
