Duende: The Art of Anthony Quinn at the Narrows Center for the Arts

The Anthony Quinn Foundation is proud to announce Duende: The Art of Anthony Quinn presented by Arbella Insurance. Duende is a term frequently used in the Spanish arts that Frederico García Lorca refers to as, "a momentary burst of inspiration, the blush of all that is truly alive, all that the performer is creating in a certain moment."  Anthony Quinn frequently relied on his internal flame, or duende, while he worked vigorously on his work. The show is taking place at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA from October 26th to December 29th, 2012. The exhibition will showcase a wide variety Anthony Quinn's artwork, including small sketches, drawings, paintings, and sculptures, as well as photographs of the artist at work and artifacts from his studio, including his work benches, tools, library resources, sketchbooks, and more.

With more than 90 objects, this exhibition for the Narrows Center for the Arts will showcase a small slice of Quinn’s enormous body of artwork and is designed to highlight his creative process. It will include small sketches, drawings, paintings, and sculptures, as well as photographs of the artist at work and artifacts from his studio, including his work benches, tools, library resources, sketchbooks, and more.

The Anthony Quinn Foundation was founded by his wife and studio assistant Katherine Quinn. "As the cornerstone in its vision, mission and values, the Anthony Quinn Foundation embraces creativity and the arts not only for their pleasure but for their central purpose in growth and development," she writes on the Anthony Quinn website. It is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation advancing the belief that art, in all its forms, is inseparable and essential to learning and the enrichment of the mind.
